Magnolia Warbler Our flagship conservation program continues to be the Site Partner Network, a Gulf-wide network of Site Partners located in each of the US and Mexican states that border the Gulf of Mexico. Currently there are 61 Sites in our Network, all of whom share the common goal of preserving and restoring essential migratory bird habitat for the 300 plus species of birds that we share. Among the Partners, more than 8 million acres of precious wetland, forests, coastal prairies and other critical habitats for birds is being protected. From as far east as Florida, south to the Yucatan Peninsula, and east to Cuba, GCBO works to connect this Network across state, international, and language boundaries. No observatory before has taken on the task of linking sites to make a "string of pearls," a chain of special and important bird habitats along the coast.
