Bob is back in action! Broad-winged Hawk 17 Swainson’s Hawk 2 Cooper’s Hawk 2 Mississippi Kite 10 Swallow-tailed Kite 5 Also a lone white pelican and lots of swallows. The roads from Winnie are still impassable but the water is mostly down over Double Bayou from Hankamer.

Where are the birds! Bob reports no migrants but 2 local Cooper’s Hawks, 2 local Broad-winged Hawks, and one local Swainson’s Hawk. Also four Black-necked Stilts, no a usual visitor to the tower fly by and also four Upland Sandpipers passing overhead. The day was saved by 19 frigatebirds and of course the eclipse!

Things are looking up! 35 birds today. Broad-winged Hawk 11 Swainson’s Hawk 8 Red-shouldered Hawk 1 Cooper’s Hawk 1 Mississippi Kite 1 Swallow-tailed Kite 5 Also 5 Olive-sided Flycatchers in view at once, Upland Sandpipers and Dickcissels put in an appearance. It will only get better from here on out!

Bob reports six migrating birds today. Broad-winged Hawk 3 Swainson’s Hawk 1 Cooper’s Hawk 1 White-tailed Kite 1 14 Wood Storks was a nice distraction and the good folks from the Kleb Woods Senior Bird Club showed up to entertain Bob for a while. Sorry we didn’t have more birds for you folks!

Bob reports only one migrating raptor today – a single Swallow-tailed Kite. Go away south wind! Winnie Burkett was at the site early and spotted 46 frigatebirds which is pretty cool! Swallows are still moving through. It will pick up soon I promise!

Bob reports 6 Swallow-tailed Kites. Lots of Cliff Swallows still with some Barn Swallows mixed in. Strong south winds again. One of these days we’ll get some north winds!
